What is the Floppy Ghost Cube?

The Floppy Ghost Cube is a shape-shifting puzzle based on the 1x3x3 (Floppy Cube). Instead of showing colors, the puzzle is solved by its shape — all the odd-looking pieces eventually form a neat little cube.

Step 1: Solve the 5 Edges

The 5 center pieces can only rotate 180 degrees and don’t move around the puzzle. Because of this, all you have to do is rotate them so they are in the correct orientation.

Quick Tip!: Use the diagram on the puzzle box to help you match up which piece goes where and their correct orientation.

Step 2: Solve the First 3 Corners

We like to start by solving the bottom left corner first. You can do this simply by finding the correct corner piece and rotating it around the puzzle until it is in its correct spot. The corner piece may be flipped the wrong way. If that is the case, you’ll just have to rotate the piece all the way around the cube and bring it back into position. Just make sure you correct your center pieces again if needed!

Now that our first corner is solved, let’s move onto solving the bottom right and top right corners. The process for solving these next 2 corners is the same. If the corner is flipped the wrong way, you’ll need to bring it out of position to the top of the puzzle, then bring it back into position the correct way and fix the center pieces again as needed.

Step 3: Solve the Last 2 Corners

To solve the last 2 corners, rotate the puzzle so they are at the top of puzzle and perform this algorithm: R2, RD2, LD2, L2, LD2, RD2, R2, U2, L2, U2, L2, U2, L2, U2.
